Yonal is part of the Fernandez family, a group of siblings, parents, and cousins, all producing exceptional coffees from their small farms. When there's sufficient parchment to create microlots, we keep larger, high-scoring lots separate by farm. In Xof smaller, high-performing lots, we may blend them under the name Fernandez Familia. Yonal owns two farms: La Mandarina, and El Limón.
Harvesting at La Mandarina occurs from May to October, with the assistance of 20 temporary employees. This washed microlot undergoes fermentation in a tank with ceramic and is dried using a solar dryer
This coffee is part of Nordic Approach's sourcing program in Peru through Origin Coffee Lab. They acquire microlots or communal blends from small, family-operated farms, where the entire production process occurs. Producers in premium
programs, like this one, invest in production, holding enough parchment for potential microlots or improved community blends.
